deepCore

About the Project

“deepCore” is a 672-square-foot public art installation in El Paso, Texas, prominently displayed as a large-scale digital artwork on weatherproof vinyl. Originally designed for a month-long exhibition, the artwork has the durability to last up to four years with proper care. Positioned on a major thoroughfare near downtown El Paso, this billboard installation aimed to transform a traditionally commercial space into a dynamic visual experience.

The project was initiated by Parker Alleman Art Gallery as part of a city-wide call for billboard art exhibitions. The artist collaborated with local stakeholders, including Parker Alleman, Clear Channel Communications for installation, and community sponsors like Tenet Healthcare. Together, these partnerships ensured the project would not only showcase innovative digital art but also engage the broader El Paso community.

The exhibition celebrated the possibilities of digital media, bringing a vibrant and abstract presence to the city’s landscape and inspiring residents with its bold and experimental aesthetic.

About the Work

The inspiration for “deepCore” stemmed from the artist’s exploration of slow-shutter digital photography and experimental digital art techniques. Using these methods, the artist created a striking collage of digital artifacts that pushed the boundaries of traditional billboard design. The resulting composition featured abstract patterns and dynamic energy, offering viewers a sense of movement and vibrancy.

The placement of “deepCore” in a high-traffic area allowed it to be experienced by commuters, pedestrians, and the broader community. Its bold visuals broke away from the typical commercial billboard, reimagining the medium as a platform for large-scale public art. The piece served as a reminder of the transformative power of art to shape everyday environments, leaving a lasting impression on El Pasoans and visitors alike.

By combining cutting-edge digital techniques with accessible public art, “deepCore” demonstrated the artist’s commitment to innovation and his ability to create installations that resonate deeply with both the local community and contemporary art audiences.
